How to use this kit for maximum hair growth:
On washday :
NB: Perform a washday every 7-10 days to keep your scalp clear of imperfections and your hair stand free from product buildup in order for moisture to penetrate the hair shaft effectively.
Step 1 : Shampoo/Cleanse
On wet hair, apply the Lemongrass Conditioning Cleanser from root to tip. Massage scalp gently with your fingertips (not nails). Use the praying hands method to gently work cleanser on the hair shaft to remove product buildup. Detangle your hair with your fingertips by separating the hair strands under running water. Rinse and repeat the process if necessary for a more deeper and clarifying cleanse.
Step 2 : Deep Condition
After the shampoo process, part hair into 4/6 manageable sections. On wet hair (use a water spray bottle if that section becomes dry), apply Berry Bliss Deep Conditioner from root to tip. Comb through that section with a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush. For more slip during the detangling process, spray that section with more water. For the more tougher tangles, try separate with your fingers first then with a detangling brush. Twist that section and move onto the next section. Repeat the process until you have completed your entire head. Leave the deep conditioner on for 30 minutes then rinse.
Tip : For low porosity hair, use heat during the deep conditioning process. You would do this by covering your hair with a plastic bag or shower cap and wrapping with a scarf or sitting under a hooded hair dryer. The heat generated under the shower cap will essentially lift the hair cuticle and allow moisture to be deeply penetrated in the hair shaft to ensure that nutrients are fully absorbed by the hair strand.
Moisture process after wash day:
NB: For maximum moisture retention, both Type 3 curly hair and type 4 coily hair, we follow the LOC/LCO method of applying products to our natural hair. The LOC method stands for L (Leave in conditioner), O (Oil) and C (Curling cream or Moisture Butter). This is a step by step process of layering products onto the hair to ensure that moisture is locked into the hair stand and thus long lasting moisture for the entire week.
LOC/LCO Moisture process:
Part hair into 4/6 manageable sections. To each section,
Styling process after moisture process:
Once the hair has been fully moisturized and moisture has been locked in, you may proceed with styling your hair. Keep a spray bottle handy just in case any section becomes too dry to style effectively.
Possible styling after moisture process includes 2 strand twists, 3 strand braids, Cornrows, Bantu Knots, Finger Coils, Roller sets and Blow Dry.
For extra curl definition and hold, follow with the Afrodite Organics Watermelon Crush Curl defining Jelly. This will help define curls and coils and hold the style all week long.
How to maintain curls or styling during the week:
Always use a silk scarf or bonnet to protect your style during the week and to prevent your hair from drying out. A cotton scarf or pillowcase normally absorbs moisture and also causes fizzing and knotting. For new hair growth or for problem areas such as lost hair line or alopecia, apply growth oil 3 times a week by applying it directly to the scalp and massaging for at least one minute.
